Our Somerset West campus will start to phase out IEB in 2023 and start to introduce the Cambridge International curriculum to lower stages 7 and 8.
Cambridge International is a stand-alone international curriculum. It is internationally recognised as the golden standard of education and backed by the first-class teaching and research departments of the University of Cambridge. The Cambridge curriculum is thus the preferred choice for students seeking to study at top institutions in South Africa and internationally.
Our Somerset West campus will offer our high school students the opportunity to complete the IEB curriculum with the Cambridge International objectives carefully integrated into its framework.
This gives the students the option to write the external Cambridge International IGCSE examinations at the end of Grade 10. Generation Schools offers our students multiple matric exit qualifications via an IEB Matric pathway, the Cambridge AS/A Level pathway or an alternative matric qualification through our Sí pathway.
The Sí pathway is our unique and innovative tertiary-in-secondary stream that allows students to accelerate their journey by unlocking alternative qualifications and learning approaches while still in high school, creating a variety of school exit credits.
Our Sí Pathway encompasses a set of International Access Qualifications that grants our students the opportunity to complete a matric equivalence NQF 4 certificate as well as progress to higher tertiary levelled qualifications while still within our high school environments.
Generation Schools will offer our IEB stream to all existing students currently in IEB. This includes grades 10, 11 and 12, and those going into grade 10. We will introduce the Cambridge International curriculum to lower stages 7 and 8 in 2023, phasing out IEB.

Janine Tessendorf
Janine Tessendorf holds a BSc Honours Degree and a Higher Diploma in Education from Wits University.
She began her career at Edenglen High School in 1992 (Gauteng) where she served as the Head of Department of Life Sciences and Physical Sciences. Janine moved across to the private sector in 2000 when she joined St Stithians Boys’ College. She taught here for 7 years before moving to the Western Cape where she served as Deputy Head (Academics and Pastoral Care) at Somerset College for 11 years. Before moving to Generation Schools Somerset West, she was the Executive Head at Reddam House Somerset.
During the course of her career, Janine has made it her mission to make Physical Science less daunting and to encourage girls to take the subject through to matric. She is a firm believer that schools should prepare students for life beyond school and equip them with the necessary skills to enable them to navigate the world of work with ease, but at the same time contribute to their community in a meaningful way.
Her management style is very “hands-on”. You will find her on the reading mat with the little ones, in the playground with the prep school children and in the classroom with the college students.

(Term-2 & Term-3) Rugby sevens, originally known as seven-a-side rugby, is a variant of rugby union in which teams are made up of seven players playing seven-minute halves, instead of the usual 15 players. We offer rugby across all our age groups. |

Our course is at Somerset Lakes. We host our inter-house annually. Our junior athletes participate in the district circuit. |
